WAPTX Mobile Banking Platform

Our key service offering is the WAPTX integrated mobile switch, a product that has been designed and developed by Software Universe Ltd. WAP TX provides a real-time online interface to various core banking applications using the ISO8583, SOAP or XML interface standards.
We have successfully implemented this interface between WAPTX and various core banking applications based on these standards. By leveraging on real time functionality we can provide real time account information in response to client queries. Where a client transaction will update the clients account, e.g. when transferring funds etc., the online interface will enable the necessary debits and credits to be updated in a real time mode.
We continue to enhance the WAP TX platform in response to market dictates. Banks that have deployed the WAP TX platform use it to offer mobile banking services to their clients, enabling them access mobile based banking services on a 24 hour basis.
We have also deployed WAP TX to offer investors at the Nairobi Stock Exchange trade alerts and enquiry capabilities on the movement of their shares.
Software Universe undertakes new product development and ongoing user support for the WAP TX platform to users of our WAP TX platform. The WAP TX application as is currently deployed in the market represents a product that has undergone fundamental system enhancements over the period that it has been in commercial use in Kenya.

Mobile Banking services

We have provided flexibility in the way a client can interface with the WAP TX application. With the advent of emerging technologies we can now provide enhanced flexibility in the way a client can interface with the WAP TX application. Access can be achieved via various methods as described below:
- USSD – A client can initiate an interactive service using the USSD gateway protocol. This service guides a client through a series of menu screens to access the required service.
- Android, and IOS Applications: We offer specific product apps for mobile PHONEs; specifically for Android and IPhone. We note that the users on the Blackberry platform can now run Android based application on their phones. Products in this category have been optimised to incorporate features to be found with these mobile telephone environments. The apps are available on the various mobile app stores.
- SMS - Clients can use the traditional SMS interface providing a low cost and easy to use medium. This would be primary delivery channel for Informational Services - Information access would be availed via automatic alerts i.e. an SMS will be initiated by WAP TX on occurrence of an activity that the clients has subscribed for, and sent to their mobile phone.
The WAPTX application has an interface to Microsoft outlook that enables the interaction to email functions enabling the creation of email messages to one or more recipients as a direct result of a request from a client using the WAPTX application. This functionality enables the WAP-TX application to create an email message on receipt of input from any of the interfaces mentioned above to initiate a transaction on behalf of a client, e.g. cheque book request etc.

Kenya Interbank Transaction Switch(KITS)

This initiative is driven by the Kenya Bankers Association; The Kenya Interbank Transaction Switch (KITS) is designed to enable the direct transfer of funds form one account to another using a central switch to be deployed by local Banks. The KITS project is currently in testing stage, but once deployed, an account holder will be asked to nominate a phone number to be associated with their bank account. Once in operation, the account holder will be able to send and receive funds to the designated bank account through their phone. Software Universe is working with its current clients in the Banking sector to develop and deploy the client interface to the KBA KITS switch.

Product Offerings

Virtual Patrol System..

We have offered a solution to the security sector to monitor the patrol of security guards in a designated property. The solution is based on GPS technology allowing a client confirm that his property is receiving the required level of patrol. The system monitors the security guard as they undertake their patrols with reports being deployed on line to a central control location. The solution is currently deployed on a number of sites in Nairobi and the Rift Valley.

Northern Corridor Traffic Incident Monitor (m-Ship)..

The Intergovernmental Standing Committee on Shipping, ISCOS, launched a USSD based application to assist truck drivers report on incidences that they encounter as they traverse the northern transport corridor. The application enables the authorities identify bottlenecks that may exist within the transport corridor with a view of identifying solutions to eradicate these said bottlenecks. Software Universe developed the USSD application and also hosts the m-Ship platform on its servers.

Karibu Time and Attendance System

The Karibu Time and Attendance system has been designed to monitor staff productivity by tracking hours worked, i.e. time of arrival and departures, time taken on breaks and monitoring absenteeism. The system offers a series of features that allows you to monitor the movement of staff in and out of your premises.

  5. Manage users who can access the system and the functionality they can undertake.
  6. The Karibu Time and Attendance System is provided with a selection of reports that enable you to monitor staff productivity, Time the staff has reported to work, how many hours the staff has worked in a particular day, etc. Reports can be sorted by duration (how long) and hours worked. The reports are also available on a network allowing management access the reports at any given time.

Karibu Visitor Management System

Originally designed to replace the manual visitors register found at various offices, the system offers a series of features that allows you to manage the movement of visitors within your premises. Features include; smart ID / document scanning, visitor pass generation, number plate recognition software, monitoring of equipment movement, staff time and attendance, amongst many others. VMS is designed for ease of use with minimal time required to check in and check out a visitor. It is provided with a selection of reports that enable you to monitor who the visitor is, who they have come to see, how often they come, etc. Reports can be sorted by frequency, (how often), duration (how long), and by place visited, (individual or department). The reports are also available on a network allowing management access the reports at any given time.
